Waterfront Sunday Brunch

Waterfront Sunday Brunch

The weather is finally cooler and the sun is shining, making it the perfect time for outdoor activities. One of the most delicious outdoor activities on the Emerald Coast is Sunday Brunch while sitting on a terrace overlooking the water. Here are four appetizing choices you'll want to try during your  stay .

790 on the Gulf

With menu items ranging from the Grilled Shrimp & Grits to Beignet French Toast to a Destin Grouper Sandwich, you’ll get the best of Florida seafood with distinctive Louisiana flavors. Enjoy the tranquil beachside Gulf coast views while you sip a Cajun Bloody Mary or the bottomless mimosas.

Giovanni’s One89

Whether you arrive by boat or by car, this is the place for a beach dining experience offering a buffet brunch that includes an array of expected favorites like french toast and omelets but adds some unconventional delights such as prime rib and crab legs. You can also choose to order a la carte from the menu to enjoy one of their classic Italian dishes.

The Bay

One of the brunch favorites is the chilaquiles, made of crispy corn tortillas mixed with avocado, jalapeños, sour cream, cheese, and chorizo topped with 2 sunny-side up eggs. Delight in the view of the Choctawhatchee Bay by sitting on the deck or get a little closer to the water by sitting near one of the fire pits. Make sure to keep your eyes open for any dolphins that are usually sighted here!

The Other End Restaurant and Beer Garden

Overlooking the docks, you’ll find an Airstream food-truck serving a variety of pancake styles and stone ground cheesy grits. The most savory item on the menu is the breakfast tacos served with grilled pork belly, eggs, gouda and pico de gallo. To quench your thirst, try one of the 16 craft beers offered on tap in the Beer Garden.

New Year's Eve on the Emerald Coast

New Years Eve on the Emerald Coast

New Year’s Eve is synonymous with fireworks, and in most of the country people are freezing while standing outside to watch them. You don’t have to be one of those people! The Emerald Coast offers breathtaking firework shows over the reflective waters of the Gulf, which are sure to keep everyone warm.

For something a little different this year, sign up for Blingin' in the New Year 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run, a glow run at 6:00 p.m. in Downtown Fort Walton Beach. You'll get to keep the bling to help you keep glowing into the new year. The run will be followed by a party at the Landing that will include live entertainment, specials at the local restaurants, and waterfront fireworks at midnight.

If you're traveling with children you'll want to check out  Lulu's 3rd Annual Noon Year's Eve in Destin. Starting at 10:00 a.m. there will be arts and crafts, a sandcastle building contest, and family-friendly music. The event will end with a huge beach ball drop at noon while the kids make their own "fireworks" by stomping on bubble wrap.

If you want to avoid the crowds, plan a more intimate fireworks viewing by having dinner at your beachfront condo rental with family and friends. At the stroke of midnight, you’ll be able to view the fireworks from your balcony while making a champagne toast with your loved ones.

Don't get stuck in the cold weather! Make your reservation to welcome 2018 on the Emerald Coast today.

Business Spotlight: Destin Brewery

Business Spotlight Destin Brewery

The popularity of craft beer is on the rise, inviting small, independently owned breweries to create interesting brews that will keep drinkers happy. The Emerald Coast is no exception to this surge in microbreweries. One tap room you’ll need to visit is Destin Brewery , which was founded by head brewer Kelly Taylor in 2015.

Whether you occasionally enjoy a cold pint of beer or have been a beer enthusiast for years, Destin Brewery offers a variety of choices that will surely please every palette. There are five flagship beers regularly on tap, all brewed with local ingredients like Destin honey and Florida citrus fruits.

Flagship Beers:

Destin Ale: a blonde ale made with flaked oats and Pilsner malt

Emerald Köast Kölsch a rice-lager style made with a Kölsch Ale yeast for a light body

Red Sky Rye: an unfiltered pale ale brewed with rye in the mash

East Pass IPA: a traditional-style India Pale Ale brewed with local Destin honey

Bridge Rouble Double: a double India pale ale that balances a hefty malt profile with a hop-forward aroma

In addition, Destin Brewery rotates several seasonal variations, barrel-aged small batches, and guest taps you'll also want to try. While you can order by the pint, flights of four are available if you can't decide on just one beer or ask for "The Works" to sample every beer on tap. You can take some home for your friends, or for you later, to enjoy in growlers or six-packs. If you can't make it to the brewery, you'll be able to find a variety of Destin Brewery's beers on tap at many of the area's restaurants.

Regularly scheduled events take place at the brewery, such as Mind Body Brew, a yoga class that incorporates beer drinking. If you're traveling with the family, bring them along for a game of  cornhole and the kids can enjoy a cup of in-house made root beer.

Make your condo reservation today to ensure you get to try this season’s beers before they’re gone.

A White Sand Christmas

A White Sand Christmas

“I’m dreaming of a white Christmas” is a popular phrase around this time of year. There is even a song with that title, which you’re probably humming in your head now.  But THAT white Christmas means shoveling snow, icy roads and bulky jackets. A perfect white Christmas includes sandy beaches, tropical sunsets and flip flops — all of which are available on the Emerald Coast.

If you still want to experience some traditional winter activities, take the family to The Village of Baytowne Wharf's  Baytowne on Ice . If you visit on a Wednesday, stay for the Holiday Concert at 6pm followed by a visit with Santa for the children. Additionally, the entire family will be in awe during the 12 Nights of Lights, a fascinating lights show set to holiday music every Friday and Saturday in December.

For those who have some last minute gift buying to do, the Destin Commons has a variety of stores. While there, make sure to see the fully lit and decorated 38’ Christmas tree and the 12 reindeer topiary shrubs. As part of the Destin Commons’ Jolly Jubilee there is an assortment of entertainment for the whole family to relish, including carolers, performances by local schools, and Santa’s Wonderland at Bass Pro Shops.

Every member of the family will agree on the perfect gift this year: a white Christmas on the Emerald Coast!
